Powerful in Pearls

Behind every golden South Sea pearl is an inspiring woman shaping its journey.

In honor of International Women’s Month, Jewelmer shines a spotlight on the remarkable women who bring this precious gem to life. Through insightful conversations with those at the heart of the Maison’s craft — from marine biologists to pearl technicians — Jewelmer celebrates their dedication and expertise.

Thessa, a pearl technician who has been with Jewelmer for nearly two decades, reflected on how she hopes women feel whenever they put on a Jewelmer South Sea pearl creation. “I want women to feel grateful and proud. Grateful because we get to work with Mother Nature and wear her masterpiece. Proud because it brings value to us.”

Even after 35 years of working with pearls, Doris, a marine biologist, finds that there is always something new to marvel at. “Pearls are the only living gem. They undergo a long process and challenges. Through all of it, it’s still a mystery to create a perfect Jewelmer pearl.”

For Lisa, a Jewelmer craftswoman of 37 years, her drive stems from bringing elegance to form. “What inspired me is the desire to create something with my hands. As a woman, I’m proud to pursue a path that reflects strength, artistry, and attention to details. It reminds me that women can shape beauty.”

Doris’ words highlight the empowering nature of South Sea pearls. “When a woman wears a Jewelmer pearl, I want her to feel confident, elegant, and unique. I want her to feel a connection to the sea and the story of the pearl.”

Their passion and pride are a testament to why women have always been, and continue to be, powerful in pearls.
